My name is Misty. I am a student at Tulane's School of Continuing Studies (Tulane University College) and have been since the fall of 2003. In December I hope to receive my Bachelor's Degree in paralegal studies and journalism cume laude. At present, I am taking 12 credit hours as a double major. Simple syrup, bourbon, mint leaves Simple Syrup
2 cups mint leaves, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water
Place water sugar and slightly crushed mint leaves in a pot. Heat until sugar dissolves. Strain. Pour 1 oz. of this mixture (simple syrup) in a zombie glass or silver goblet. Fill with crushed ice, stir until ice dissolves some, add crushed ice and bourbon to top of glass. Stir until frosty. Garnish with a sprig of mint and serve.
You will understand why you have heard that Southerners sit on the veranda and sip their mint juleps . . . !
* 1.5 ounces light rum * 1.5 ounces dark rum * 1 ounce orange juice * 1 ounce fresh lime juice (NOT Rose's or RealLime) * 1/4 cup passion fruit juice, or 1 tablespoon passion fruit syrup * 1 teaspoon superfine sugar * 1 teaspoon grenadine * Cherries with stems, and orange slice to garnish * Ice cubes
